July 25, 2016 - On July 14, 2016, ZIOPHARM Oncology Inc revealed that a brain cancer patient in an ongoing clinical trial had died after being treated with Ad-RTS-hIL-12, the Company's experimental gene therapy. A Ziopharm spokesman commented that ZIOPHARM Oncology Inc had not yet informed the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of the death. ZIOPHARM Oncology Inc then disclosed a second death of a patient in clinical study, but said the death was unrelated to Ad-RTS-hIL-12. Shares of ZIOPHARM Oncology Inc. (NASDAQ:ZIOP) declined to as low as $4.46 per share on July 19, 2016.

Then on March 26, 2013, IOPHARM Oncology, Inc. announced that it terminated the development of Palifosfamide in Metastatic Soft Tissue Sarcoma.
