Investigation Overview
May 19, 2016 (Shareholders Foundation) - An investigation on behalf of investors of Gerdau SA (ADR) (NYSE:GGB) shares over potential securities laws violations by Gerdau SA and certain of its directors and officers in connection certain financial statements was announced.
The investigation by a law firm focuses on possible claims on behalf of purchasers of the securities of Gerdau SA (ADR) (NYSE:GGB) concerning whether a series of statements by Gerdau regarding its business, its prospects and its operations were materially false and misleading at the time they were made.
On May 16, 2016, various news outlets reported that Brazils federal police accused Gerdau SA of evading $429 million in taxes and indicted certain Gerdau SA executives, including Chief Executive Officer Andr Gerdau Johannpeter, on corruption-related charges. The charges included bribery, money laundering, and influence peddling.
Shares of Gerdau SA (ADR) (NYSE:GGB) declined to as low as $1.59 per share on May 17, 2016.
