April 3, 2019 - An investor in shares of Care.com, Inc. (NYSE: CRCM) filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts over alleged violations of Federal Securities Laws by Care.com, Inc. in connection with certain allegedly false and misleading statements made between March 27, 2015 and April 1, 2019.
Waltham, MA based Care.com, Inc. operates an online marketplace for finding and managing family care in the United States and internationally.
On March 8, 2019, the Wall Street Journal published an article titled “Care.com Puts Onus on Families to Check Caregivers’ Backgrounds – With Sometimes Tragic Outcomes.” Care.com, Inc. reported that its annual Total Revenue rose from $174.09 million in 2017 to 192.26 million in 2018 and that its Net Income increased from $10.66 million in 2017 to $52.89 million in 2018.
On March 8, 2019, an article was published titled “Care.com Puts Onus on Families to Check Caregivers’ Backgrounds – With Sometimes Tragic Outcomes.” Shares of Care.com, Inc. (NYSE: CRCM) declined from $25.81 per share on March 4, 2019 to as low as $19.10 per share on March 15, 2019.
According to the complaint the plaintiff alleges on behalf of purchasers of Care.com, Inc. (NYSE: CRCM) common shares between March 27, 2015 and April 1, 2019, that the defendants violated Federal Securities Laws.
More specifically, the plaintiff claims that between March 27, 2015 and April 1, 2019, the Defendants made false and/or misleading statements, as well as failed to disclose material adverse facts, with respect to the manner in which the Company vets the caregivers and day-care providers listed on its website.
