Investigation Overview
An investigation on behalf of investors of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shares over potential securities laws violations by Apple Inc. and certain of its directors and officers in connection with certain statements was announced.
The investigation by a law firm focuses on possible claims on behalf of purchasers of the securities of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) concerning whether a series of statements by Apple Inc. regarding its business, its prospects and its operations were materially false and misleading at the time they were made.
In early 2017, Apple Inc. allegedly released a software update that slowed the performance of older model iPhones, without disclosing the impact of the update to consumers.When the foregoing conduct came to light, Apple Inc. was sued by consumer advocacy groups and individual iPhone users. On January 30, 2018, media outlets reported that the U.S. Department of Justice and Securities Exchange Commission are investigating whether Apple's disclosures with respect to the software update at issue violated securities laws.
Shares of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) declined from $180.10 per share on Janaury 18, 2018 to $156.00 per share on February 5, 2018.
