August 31, 2011 - The lead plaintiff filed an amended consolidated complaint on behalf of investors who purchased American Superconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: AMSC) common stock between (a) July 29, 2010 to July 11, 2011 and (b) the secondary public offering on November 12, 2010. The lead plaintiff alleges that the defendants violated the Securities Act of 1934 by issuing false and misleading statements between July 29, 2010 to July 11, 2011 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 by issuing false and misleading statements regarding secondary public offering on November 12, 2010.
June 20, 2011 - The lead plaintiff and lead counsel were appointed and all cases were consolidated.

April 6, 2011 - An investor in shares of American Superconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: AMSC) filed a lawsuit in in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts against American Superconductor Corporation over alleged violations of Federal Securities Laws.
According to the complaint the plaintiff alleges that American Superconductor Corporation and certain of its executive officers violated the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 by issuing between November 2, 2010 and April 5, 2011 a series of material misrepresentations to the market which had the effect of artificially inflating the market price.
American Superconductor Corporation’s 12months Total Revenue increased from $52.18million reported on March 31, 2007 to $315.95million reported on March 31, 2010. Its Net Income rose over the same time frame from a Net Loss of $34.67million to a Net Income of $16.25million.
Specifically the complaint charges the defendants with federal securities violations involving revenues derived from Sinovel Wind Group Co., Ltd.
Shares of American Superconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: AMSC) traded during 2007 as low as $9.49 per share and increased during June 2008 to as high as $42.55 before falling to $9.67 per share in November 08. During 2009 AMSC shares again increased to above $40 but traded during 2010 around $30 per share. During the first three months in 2011 AMSC shares traded slightly below $30 and closed March at $24.87 per share.
Then on April 5, 2011, American Superconductor Corporation reported that on March 31, 2011, Sinovel Wind Group Co., Ltd, one of its largest customers, refused to accept contracted shipments of 1.5 megawatt (MW) and 3 MW wind turbine core electrical components and spare parts that American Superconductor Corporation was prepared to deliver.
American Superconductor Corporation also disclosed that it believes that Sinovel plans to reduce its inventory levels before accepting any further contracted shipments.
As a result, American Superconductor Corporation's earnings for the 2010 fourth quarter and fiscal year would be lower than previously forecasted. American Superconductor Corporation also said that it would review the appropriateness of the timing of its revenue recognition on approximately $56 million of unpaid shipments in the second, third and fourth quarters of fiscal 2010.
Shares of American Superconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: AMSC) fell from roughly $25 on April 5, 2011 to $12.65 per share during April 6.
